Hello all, this is my first post after hanging around for awhile reading what others have had to say.

I have finally decided on a new JD790 MFWD R1s, LX5, 6ft RB and 300 loader for the initial purchase. After pouring through the specs for Kubota, NH and JD I finally went with my gut feeling that this is the tractor for me. I hope it wasn't just indigestion!

I know that the 790 is an old design ( I resemble that remark) without the bells and whistles of the newer designs but to me that makes it better. I am never one to buy the newest model of anything. I like to let others live on the bleeding edge of technology.

Thanks to everyone on this board. This is what makes the internet such a great tool. I have learned a great deal from reading the posts here.

Congratulations! Christmas in June! The 790 is a solid and dependable little machine, I think you'll like it a lot. ....

Greetings gftl91

I have 165 hours on my 790 with the 419 Fel and rear KK 5ft finish mower. The little tractor that pulls twice its weight is a wunderwerker. I was thinking of trading up but I must admit this is all the tractor and no headaches I really need for 13 acres of woods and lawn with snow removal and landscaping (read moving boulders and trees and maintaining a gravel road). Heck I havent even shimmed the loader hydraulic limiter valve.. yet. Go getem with with your Green machine. You will be impressed.
Have fun ....

Thanks to all for the replies. I can't wait to get it and get started. We have 10 acres of old farm field that we are putting a house on this summer. I will have plenty to do and I think the 790 will be more than enough tractor for me.

This is my first tractor and while I would have liked to have gotten a hydro, the cost justification was not there for me.

Does anyone know the differences between the 419 and 300 loaders other than the curved arms?

GFTL91 ....

Hello GFTL91,
Hey, in a whole bunch of instances "no bells and whistles" is a good thing! I'll bet you cannot like your 790 any more than I like mine!
Take care,
Stephen ....
